love the post Dave. This is definitely something everybody should read it they are marketing online.

I love how you compared your next-door neighbor to somebody you might be pitching yourself to online.

Some people think just because they are online they can act differently. Kind of like how people sometimes become a**holes when they get behind the wheel of a car when normally they are easy-going people.

Dave,
this is timeless and I had to read and apply this daily.

Everyone is forgetting how important it is to realize that just based on doing 78% of marketing online. It should not change the fact to introduce yourself and build that real relationship with each person you come across.

It will work well for both in the long run of business.

Dave, your articles are never without insight. Your one of our great coaches in this industry and a supporter of all. Thanks for caring for all your readers and myself.

Gotta love these "random posts"! They unearth some real gems.

I love this post, especially the illustration of the new neighbour moving in, and going over and firehosing him with your business before you ever know anything about him. My teenage son said it's like some stranger coming and setting up HIS shop on YOUR front lawn! Well put, I think.

Absolutely Right On Dave! It simply amazes me with some of the irritating tactics that go on. The path of common courtesy should always prevail - if you don't like it when someone does it to you, don't do it to them. Plain and simple. I'm all for getting your message out but do it respectively and with the bigger picture in mind. I just chuckle sometimes when some people seem to think they're being creative in their spamming like it's not blatantly obvious. Social sites aside, I've just been inundated lately with pre-recorded pitches to my 1-800 # found on my site. I mean they just can't be effective, can they????!!!! OMG! people would actually respond positively to something like that???

You are so right! I remember when I had more than one 800 number call where someone called me not because he/she actually wanted to know more about my business opportunity, but to pitch me theirs. Needless to say, if they left a message of that sort, I never called them back. I would never do that to someone else, and I don't appreciate it when people use a number that I am paying for to try to pitch me on their business.
