Shut Up, Stop Whining & Get a Life!

I Love Larry Winget! This guy is direct, in your face, upfront and truthful about why people just don’t get it.

There’s noting complicated about his teaching, he just speaks the simple truth and believe it or not, most people don’t like hearing it. Meaning: Larry is a very entertaining speaker but he really makes you take a hard look at yourself rather than just using the positive thinking method that most motivational speakers teach.

Larry Winget's - Shut Up, Stop Whining & Get A Life

If you really want to become a better person, a richer person, a smarter person or whatever type of person you want to become, then do it! Think about it. Nobody is going to do it other than you. So, if you want change, you have to change. PERIOD!

There aren’t too many “motivational” authors out there who will tell their readers to shut up and stop whining. But Larry Winget does not call himself a motivational speaker. In fact, he’s trademarked himself as “The World’s Only Irritational Speaker.”

So if you are rubbing crystals together, using the Law of Attraction in every part of your life and you don’t seem to be moving forward, then maybe you need to look in one other place to find the answers. YOU! It all comes back to you and your daily actions. Don’t get me wrong. I love using the law of attraction and it works for me whenever I really focus, but you also have to take action. Always wishing that things will become better isn’t action and action is what will move you forward. If you are broke, you had better take action to raise your financial IQ. Do you want a better love life? Then YOU need to change, not your partner. These are some of the “in your face” approaches Larry takes. Smooth and kind about how you are a screw-up is not the way Larry teaches!

His books are most certainly not intended to make you “feel good about yourself.” But then again, that’s the whole idea.

That’s the type of teachings Larry talks about. Take a look at one of his posts I used from his blog below.

It’s Easier To Be Stupid

June 27, 2009 | By Larry Winget | In Money & Personal Dev

That’s right. It’s easier to be stupid than it is to be smart.

Here are a few statistics that I read awhile back in one of Larry’s book. They still blow my mind today!

1. 80% of American’s didn’t buy a book last year.
2. 43% of American’s read below a 7th grade level.
3. 70% of American adults have not been in a bookstore in the last 5 years.
4. 58% of American adults never read a book after high school.
5. 42% of University Graduates NEVER read another book. WOW!

Another study reports only 14% of society would go in a bookstore or a library and actually walk out with a book. And only 10% of those would read past the first chapter.

In America approximately only 5% of people that retire can do so without some type of financial assistance e.g.; social security, pensions and etc…

People need to wake up and take responsibility for creating their own financial freedom. Working on their own self development is their key to freedom!

The question is, will they take the necessary steps to achieve it?

It is easier to listen to the political pundits and television news anchors and trust their words completely than it is to study, read, and search to discover the truth about a political issue or to actually read one of the bills or proposals you are so vehemently for or against.

It is easier to believe Rush or O’Reilly or Hannity or Olberman or Rachel or Beck or even Larry Winget than it is to actually do a little fact checking of your very own. It’s work to find the truth out about any issue, so it’s easier to just accept what you hear as fact.

It is easier to listen to the preachers and believe every word they say from their pulpit than it is to read the book yourself, or maybe lots of books and search for your own insight and develop your beliefs based on your own experiences.

It’s easier to just tow the party line because you are registered Democrat or Republican than it is to ask whether the party line makes sense or not.

Are you ready to take full responsibility for your own life so you can stop whining and enjoy the life you created? You won’t believe the positive changes you’ll make!

    Hi Dave,

Great post, I think sometimes we need a decent kick in the butt!! The motivational speakers are great but it’s the edgier ones that can sometimes kick you in to gear a little quicker.

I think I’ll have to get my hands on his books. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Thanks Dave and Dawn, Mentally I always told my self I hated it when people whined. But if I really examine my life, there’s times when I do the same thing. I have to change myself first and that’s what I can have control over. I need to be a positive person, impacting my own life and hopefully being an influence to others as that positive feeling and expression is carried to them. Thanks

    Dave and Dawn,
This is a powerful article! I know someone who needs Larry’s shirt—ME! By this age you’d think that taking responsibility for my actions would be a cake walk. It isn’t! It is still a DAILY reminder to stay in line with a firm focus on the goals at hand.

Thanks for introducing Larry Winget. I look forward to reading his blog and getting his books. Yep, guess we defy the average statistics. Am sure that we all read a minimum of a book a week:)

    Hi Dave & Dawn,

Life is all about taking action in accordance to our purpose and vision.

There are so many great people out there in the world that are waiting for you to show up so that they can help them out. Time to step out of our comfort zone and say goodbye. Take full responsibility for yourself in all aspect of your life and watch it grow before you eyes.

It is amazing that we can have the ability to think about these kinds of things and well as have the option to CHOOSE the type of life we want to live now and in the future.

    Thanks for this great post.
    Make it a great day!

Thanks Dave for introducing me to Larry Winget. I really enjoyed this post.

I’ve been going through my taking responsibility check up and boy it was a kick in the butt.

This is a great reminder whether it’s finances, health, or relationships. On the river of life, if we don’t do our own paddling settling for life by default vs. life by design, sooner or later, we will hit a waterfall where life crashes down upon us.

Funny, I went the opposite route. I didn’t read books in school or college and it was only after formal schooling I started reading more. The missing ingredient most of my early years was passion and purpose giving me a reason to read.

Action is the critical element to results. With Law of Attraction you need to believe and have faith that it will come. Faith is only demonstrated through action. Those who don’t take action either don’t believe it will happen or that they are worthy of it.

Keep on rocking with the killer content!

    Hey Dave,

Thank you for sharing this post I wasn’t familiar with Larry Winget but I think I am on his wavelength. Made me chuckle lots. Being positive is one thing but taken action is a very different thing.

Thank you for the reminder that we have to keep pushing towards our goals and aspirations to reach them and not just stumple upon them as if by magic.

    Have a great day,
    Beth :-)

    Hi Dave,

I, too, was not familiar with Larry Winget, but as a bottom-line, down to earth kinda girl, I loved his approach. Kind of like the Jillian Michaels of the business world.

No pity party here! I absolutely loved it! I especially connected with the emphasis on our need to take responsibility for our lives. That is so very true! Until we take responsibility nothing can really change. Thanks for introducing me to another great leader.

I love the straight forward nature of your post. When we as entrepreneurs look in the mirror and claim accountability for our own success instead of blaming others or circumstances, that’s when we now have the mindset of success.

    Hey Dave…Amen!

Most people don’t really understand the “law of attraction” but are trying to live by it…it works sometimes for them and other times it doesn’t. The concept of taking personal responsibility and taking action for yourself is all part of the equation. It doesn’t work to simply think positive because many times the things we are trying to turn into a positive comes from a negative perspective in the first place. The energy we send out is so mixed up that these things simply do not work. The best things in life are fought for and worked for and they create an energy and momentum that is powerful. It is much like James talks about in the Bible…”faith without works is dead.” We can believe something all day long but until we put legs on that belief…it is essentially meaningless!

Wow, these statistics are mind boggling! I almost can’t believe that our culture has come to this, but in a way am not surprised.

You’re right, belief and attraction marketing are key elements in network marketing, but those who think they can just sit around, dream about success, and have money fall from the ceiling are sadly misguided! Every goal that we wish to achieve demands hard work, but is well worth it in the end.

It is SO much easier to be “stupid”, some may even say ignorance is bliss…

But that just isn’t the case man, if you are purposely ignoring something because you don’t want to get your hands dirty than you are really just wasting your life by putting off something that you know needs to get done.

Like Larry Winget says, “Shut up, stop whining, and get a life.”

    Hi Dave,
Wowie Zowie! Looking at those stats, no wonder more people don’t have success in our world. I’m reminded of this – “Today’s readers, are tomorrow’s leaders…and today’s leaders are great readers.” Continual personal development is essential for success. And, yes – it all starts with the person in the mirror. :-)

    Dave,
Great post. I totally agree. I tell couples directly (and in my website) that they are there because they have issues to deal with. I let them know that I am NOT going to be a “how do you feel about that?” kind of therapist, that I want them to get results.

He tells it like it is but in a motivating approach.

Thanks for sharing that post from his site. He has a amazing brain! I love that article because he tells us the reality of many people and how they think. It really IS easier to be stupid than it is to be smart. Those statistics were staggering yet I am not surprised at all.

Just the other day I asked my two friends when the last time was they picked up a book…they couldn’t even remember. That tells me a lot about them as a person in how their choices affect the way they live on a daily basis.

Again, thanks for the introduction to Larry.
