Play Cash Flow 101 Board Game – To Become Rich!

Don’t we all love to play board games? How about a game that everyone will love because it teaches you how to create riches and a steady cash flow? The financial literacy who acquire not only helps you to win the game, but gives you the skills you can use in your real life to secure your own financial freedom.
No, it’s not Monopoly, but you could actually call it Monopoly on Steroids. The games real name is Cash Flow 101 and it was created by our favorite financial-freedom author, Robert Kiyosaki.

As we learned by reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, we all start in the “Rat Race”. The “Rat Race” is the never ending loop created when you only work for money. Unless you know that there is a fast track to riches just outside the rat race, we’ll all remain in the rat race and never experience true financial independence and freedom which comes when you make your money work for you.

Sadly most of us don’t even know we are stuck in the rat race. As Robert and his Rich Dad explained to him, strictly working a job (working for money) never provides true wealth and riches regardless of how many raises you receive. When we lack financial literacy, with each raise we are taxed at a higher rate and we buy liabilities rather than investment assets with our increased salary.

The key is to study how money works and learn to be rich, ie financial literacy; and guess what, it’s not taught in any schools, not even in graduate studies.

Kerstin’s perspective:
School and education can be rather challenging at times. However, some people realize that the ultimate challenges of life begin in adulthood, while others do not. I am a sophomore at Southeast High School, and I am enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program. Also, on every third Tuesday of the month, each student meets with his or her academy teacher, who helps the students put together a successful resume to be more likely accepted by potential employers. However, not one teacher explains the importance of passive income.

Passive income is the money one earns through investments, such as real estate, stocks, and self-owned businesses. By reading books like Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cash Flow Quadrants, and by playing the board game “Cash Flow 101″, all by Robert Kiyosaki, I have learned that having a job is only a small part of my future. If I ever want to fulfill all my fantasies, then I will need to find ways to make money work for me.

Furthermore, these books may be used as tools, but we must first learn how to use them. We must use the tools to acquire skills, then use everything we’ve received to build our dreams. For example, in life, we are not going to be handed “Opportunity Cards” with great deals written on them. We must search to find our own cards and create our own opportunities. I hope I have inspired you and much love to you. - Kerstin Cook

Nikky’s perspective:
Making it through life financially can be a struggle at times, but not if you know how to invest your money wisely.
Hi, I’m Nicole Cook and I’m thirteen years old. I’ve played the game of CashFlow 101 quite a few times and I recently won. CashFlow is a game that represents the financial part of life. In order to get out of the “rat race” you have to raise your passive income to be larger than your total expenses. To do that you need to invest your money in opportunities, such as stock or real estate. Once out of the “rat race”, you need to earn enough money to purchase your dream. This is a very good example of life.
Playing this game, I believe will improve my financial knowledge and will skyrocket my abilities to provide myself with a better life and future. Most children my age don’t understand how having a good job with good pay will not get you ahead in life. By investing money in opportunities that will make you money, you will do just that. I plan to have a good financially sound life and I know I couldn’t do it without my parents guidance and my understanding of the CashFlow 101 game.
I wish you all the best and good luck to you. I hope you will become very successful in life. - Nicole Cook

    It always amazed me that no emphasis was put on investment income in any of the college courses I took. CashFlow 101 sounds like a game I’d love to invest in (and could have done so 10 years ago with my kids at home). Kerstin and Nikky definitely have a head start on building their financial futures on a solid footing.

    Rich Dad, Poor Dad is one of my favorites books. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I’ll pass it on to my son:)

    What a great testimony on Cash Flow 101 – I’m so glad you posted it as a family. Having the girls’ viewpoint is an added bonus.
    I thought of investing in it since I’ve been a huge Kyosaki fan for ages, but the cost of it was somewhat off-putting.
    But having seen the results in raised financial literacy are not just hype, I’m putting an order in soon.

    @Jacqueline Gates
    Jacqueline, you may want to check Ebay for it first, but even if you pay full price, you will recoup that money by making the right financial decisions going forward. It’s a great game to share with friends as well as all your family.
    Thanks for your interest and comments.

    There is a very powerful benefit of homeschooling. You can teach them the financial literacy that they don’t learn in public school. Your kids will have a huge advantage in life thanks to you. Great job!!

    @Darlene Davis
    Yes, Darlene, I’m also still amazed that even college classes don’t get into financial literacy.
    This will be a fantastic game for you to play with your son as well as other family and friends.
    Please let us know what you and your son think if you do play the game.

    Thanks for this, I hadn’t seen this game. I will check to see if I can get it over here in the UK.
    Looks cool and will give us another great game to play during the evenings :-)

    Work, play, sleep is all about dreaming for a better future and if I can play a cool game also! It’s a winner :-)

    Thanks for sharing this game, Dave and Dawn! I had not heard of it, but like you mentioned, many of us are sorely misses financial literacy. We’re trying to teach our son, and something like this would be a great tool. I’ll look into it (and thanks for the tip to the other poster about searching eBay).

    Take care,

    Hi Dave and Dawn,

    Great post. I love the Rich Dad books and the Cash Flow games.

    After reading the Rich Dad Poor Dad and Cash Flow Quadrant about 5 years ago we purchased the Cash Flow for Kids computer game and Board Game for our daughter who was 4 years old at the time. She loved it.

    We also purchased the Cash Flow 101 game and as you mention Dave, we spent hours playing the game before someone would finish.

    We have also been part of a Cash Flow group in our local town where we would get together and play cash flow 101 and 202 as well as teach each other about the strategies and tactics learned from the game.

    I would highly recommend this to everyone. It is worth the money and then some. This is not learned in school and your children need to know about it.

    Glad to hear that your kids are learning before heading out into the world on their own. They will have such a great foundation for the future.

    Thanks for sharing this with us all.

    Make it a great day!

    God Bless,

    Hi Dawn and Dave, awesome post and great presentation. Great advice also. If we can teach kids how to deal with money, they will be so much better off later in life. What a great suggestion to teach it through a game. Make it fun and entertaining and at the same time increase their knowledge and make them truly understand what is important to get ahead in life.

    Dave, Dawn, Kerstin, and Nikky…as well as those of you commenting on it…thank you for recommending this game. I read about it years ago when I first read “Rich Dad Poor Dad”, but I didn’t get it at that time. Now I’m seriously considering it. My daughter is 12, and I want her to grow up with a much greater understanding of financial matters than I did!

    A great video presentation. Out of your article . . . how true this sentence: “The key is to study how money works and learn to be rich, ie financial literacy; and guess what, it’s not taught in any schools, not even in graduate studies.”

    As always . . . great content.

    Dave I have had and played this game for many years although I am not completely out of the rat race yet I love to play it. I have been teaching for many years and have always tried to teach students some financial literacy and got them playing this game on the occasion as well. The idea of passive income seems to escape many people though.

    Hey Dave – I think it’s fantastic that games such as this are coming out. Another one that one of my team mates told me about and says he uses all the time as a great recruiting tool is MLM The Game (http://www.mlmthegame.com). I haven’t purchased it myself, but based on what he tells me and the success he’s had with people being absolutely enthralled with the game when he has house parties, it’s at the top of my list!

    Hey there Dave and Dawn;

    I just found this post of yours and I absolutely love the Cashflow game. My wife and I play regularly. I’d love to be able to come down down there some time soon and play with you guys. It’s great to know that you and Dawn are playing such a valuable game and teaching your kids financial literacy.

    Personally; I don’t think the game is expensive at all when you think about the value and education it provides. I know you’re of the same mindset though and that’s why you play. Often I think people look too much to the dollar amount and not the value. As Robert says; it should never be “I can’t afford” instead it should be “How can I afford it?” then take action on that.

    As always; thanks for your leadership and quality information my friends.

    We ended up with two of these games and spent a lot of money on a course that my husband never saw through to the end. Very sad and actually I never sat down and played the game. I did read Rich Dad Poor Dad and really liked it. It was packed full of some good lessons – but unfortunately never got around to playing the game.

    Many years ago I attended Ropbert Kiyosaki’s “Money and You”. It was a powerful training in Financial literacy, and I have never forgotten some of the lessons I learned. I learned later that Robert was in $500K debt at that time, and teaching as he was learning.

    Seems his lessons were right. Look at him now. Leveraged income for me!!

    Your girls are learning things at their age that I’m only now learning. How wonderful to know it while still young! I’d love to learn that game. Sounds like one of the games I made for my kids when I taught school — fun, but learning content at the same time!
