Social Security Identity Theft
Social Security Identity Theft
There are millions of people working in America who don’t want to pay taxes. It may be an illegal immigrant, a deadbeat parent, or a paroled criminal trying to shake their past. Your SSN may be the most valuable piece of personal information a thief can steal.
Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America. A dishonest person who has your Social Security number (SSN) can use it to get other personal information about you. Identity thieves can use your number and your good credit to apply for more credit in your name. Then, they use the credit cards and do not pay the bills. You may not find out that someone is using your number until you are turned down for credit or you begin to get calls from unknown creditors demanding payment for items you never bought.
Someone illegally using your Social Security number and assuming your identity can cause a lot of problems.
While the Social Security Administration isn’t required to tell you about all these jobs, the IRS will want you to pay the taxes. This can be a tough battle, too. For a non-government agency, the IRS has unbelievable power. Expect a lot of hoops to jump through here. Although it’s gotten easier over the past few years, the process is still time consuming.
As this video mentions, Illegal Immigrants use this form of Identity Theft (IDT) all the time. When Illegal Immigrants steal a Social Security number, it become common property to others as well. In most cases, when your SSN has been stolen in this way, it will usually be used by at least 5 -10 other illegals.
Another form of IDT mentioned in the above video is where your children s identities are being stolen and we usually don’t realize this has happened until the reach the age of 18 years old. This is becoming one of the fastest growing crimes in the identity theft arena because it is so hard to detect, since most people don’t check their children’s financials. Most people never think about form of IDT and that is why it is so easy for thieves to get away with it. (We represent a service that covers this form of IDT for only $1 (up to 4 children), if interested)
The Social Security number (SSN) is one of the main tools used to steal an identity. According to FTC testimony, “Social Security numbers play a pivotal role in ID theft. Identity thieves use the Social Security number as a key to access the financial benefits available to their victims. Preventing identity thieves from obtaining Social Security numbers will help to protect consumers from this pernicious crime. ”
Terrorists use Social Security number fraud and ID theft
to assimilate themselves into our society. According to FBI testimony before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, “Terrorists have long utilized ID theft as well as Social Security number fraud to enable them to obtain such things as cover employment and access to secure locations. These and similar means can be utilized by terrorists to obtain driver’s licenses, and bank and credit card accounts through which terrorism is facilitated.”
We find it funny that all around us we here that “You need to keep your Social Security number in a Safe place and that you shouldn’t give it out to anyone!” As we have mentioned before, your information is already out there and there is nothing you can do about that fact PERIOD
- Have you ever bought a home or a car? It’s out there!
- Do you have utilities in your name? It’s out there!
- Have you ever had a job? It’s out there!
- Did you go to school? It’s out there!
All these companies and many others already have your personal information. You can hope and pray that there is never a security breach, but the fact are, they happen all the time. We hate to tell you, but there is nothing you can do to prevent it from happening to you. Your best protection is to be informed of it as soon as possible and take the necessary required steps to remedy it IMMEDIATELY.

I couldn’t agree with you more, way too many people simply work on trust that an organisation is keeping their details safe.
I know it sounds silly but the number of companies I’ve been to that keep all their sales records on an unsecured desktop or laptop, or utilise unsecured networks, makes me want to cry.
It’s shocking, and these arn’t always small companies, the big ones are often the worst offenders.

Scary stuff. Lot’s of people pay premiums every month to keep them safe (financially) from fires, wrecks, disability, etc., but rarely identity theft. Definatelyy need to start taking identity theft more seriously.
