I was on the phone with Robert Kiyosaki!

Yes, it’s true, I was on the phone with our financial idol, Robert Kiyosaki! (our dog is named Kiyo, if that gives you any idea how significant Robert’s teachings have been to us!) OK, I suppose you want to know how it happened. Here it is. Myself and 3,000 other network marketers for our primary business were on the phone as Robert and his wife Kim were the guest speakers on one of our team conference call Sunday night. Did I care that I had to share his wisdom and the sound of his live voice with 3,000 other people? No way! I was so happy that so many of us could have such a fantastic experience, receiving personal guidance from the financial master.

And guess what else was even better! Robert (yes, I feel I can call him by his first name now since he spoke to me on the phone!) was specifically endorsing our primary business! We feel so honored and privileged to have chosen one of the very few, if any, network marketing businesses that is endorsed by the man who gave us the courage and sound financial principles to change our lives through network marketing. We couldn’t be happier or feel more confident in our decision!

Ok, now let’s get into the specifics of what Robert and Kim Kiyosaki said during this awesome phone call.

Much of what he said came from his latest book The Business of the 21st Century, written specifically for the network marketing industry. (I have a copy on its way!)

“Politicians work for big corporations and the rich, not for the people” Robert said this was true since the big corporations and the rich can make huge political contributions that we, the people just can’t. Through Robert, I learned that the Supreme Court has overturned a bill that was pushed forward by John McCain that limited the amount of political contributions that can be accepted by politicians. The Supreme Court determined that corporations and individuals can not be limited in the dollar amount that they choose to contribute to politicians. As we all know, politicians listen to money more than anything else. That leaves us out in the cold and fully responsible for our own financial future.

The things we are fighting, per Robert, are:
• The economy will get worse
• The current 10% unemployment rate is likely to increase
• Taxes to go higher
• Inflation to increase

In regards to inflation, Robert said “$250,000 a year won’t get you ahead in 10 years!” Isn’t that incredibly sad!

Robert, as usual, offered the solution to these problems. “Work not as an individual, but create your own network. Build your own network so your income is not limited.” In my opinion, you’ll get absolutely no where if you continue to rely only on your own limited efforts. We can all be successful if we work together toward a common goal.

In regards to sharing your opportunity with your family and friends, Robert also talked about the fact that even some of his family members are still stuck in the employee mindset. He said that when he returns to Hawaii to see his family, he has family members who still ask him if he’s found a job yet, and they feel sorry for him when he says “no”. (What planet do they live on?) For those of us who have received the same reactions from our own family and friends, you can feel that you are in excellent company now. Robert says if your family and friends are in the employee quadrant (from his Cashflow Quadrant book), you will have a rough time changing them. Another quote from Robert: “If your friends don’t understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, then you need new friends.” This topic and this quote specifically have empowered me to move beyond the rejections from my family and friends and I hope it helps you in the same way!

The last thing that Robert discussed that I’ll include in this post here was in regards to spouses working together to mind their own business. First off, why mind your own business? As Robert and his Rich Dad explained in Rich Dad Poor Dad, in addition to your profession/job, you must create and mind your own business to invest in assets to become financially independent. As Robert indicated in the call, a network marketing business is a great way to make money that you’ll then invest in assets within your business. Now back to spouses working together. As Robert mentioned how important it is to have the full support of your spouse and gave huge credit to his wife Kim, as she came on the phone. Her big point was to highlight how she and Robert grew personally together in such a phenomenal way as they have worked closely together now for so many years. She couldn’t say enough about the increased success you can generate when you work together! I look forward to reading this chapter of The Business of the 21st Century that Kim wrote.

OK, there was more valuable information that Robert relayed in this phone call, but I’ll save some for the next post. For those of you who are huge Robert Kiyosaki fans, like Dave and I, I’m sorry you couldn’t be on the call. My offerings here in this post can’t compare to hearing him in person, but I hope, by reading this post, you’ve received some of the benefit I received. I’ll gladly respond to any questions you may have. Please leave your questions and comments below.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever come off the high I’m on after hearing Robert Kiyosaki speak to me and confirm that we are on the right path!! Thanks so much to my business partners, Sara and Bruce who clued me into the call on Sunday night! I’m so grateful!!

Wow Dawn, your enthusiasm radiates from your post. Great to read how empowering this Robert Kiyosaki is. I am not too familiar with him, but the way you describe some of your learnings it does make a lot of sense. I am looking forward to your next post!

    Hey Dawn,

Great post. What an incredible blessing that you have been given and that Robert and his wife Kim share with the rest of the world. I love the game cashflow and play it with my wife and daughter (she's 9). Great and amazing lessons to learn to set the foundation for her financial future and to improve ours. I have a friend who works for Rick Dad Education here in Canada and she had the opportunity to interview Robert and Kim last year at their annual conference. Was only to be 15 minutes with just Robert, but ended up being 2 hours and he invited Kim to join them.
Such giving hearts they have. When I get a copy of the video, I will share.

Thanks for sharing this with us all. It will help many thousands of people. Time to get the word out.

    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed

Great post Dave and Dawn! I am also a huge Kiyosaki fan. My husband and I started our own real estate company over 5 years ago thanks to reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

I love that you mentioned their emphasis on couples working together. I know many people who say to me that they'd love to invest in real estate or start a business, but they can't because their partner isn't interested. That is such a shame, because they are missing out on a chance to grow and reignite the excitement in their marriage. We've grown so much closer because of working together, and life is much more fun and interesting.

Robert Kiyosaki is always so inspirational, and you were fortunate indeed to have the opportunity to be on that call! Thank you so much, Dave and Dawn, for sharing the experience and your enthusiasm. Your post made my day!

Hi Dawn! Thank you so much for sharing this information! It was a little sad, but very exciting at the same time. I'm sure that he was speaking directly to you the entire time! :) I will definitely remember that even Robert Kiyosaki has family members that want him to get a job!

    Inspiring Info!

Thats an empowering message because Kiyosaki always has his finger on the pulse of the current and future economic wave. I got very excited reading your post, so it sure was conveyed well for me even though I did not hear him myself.

In very much look forward to reading the book

  7. May 20th, 2010 at 17:58 | #7

Yeah.. Kiyosaki is not the only one saying what's happening. I get right upset when people tell me, Ohhh noo.. the economy's coming around.. look at all the oilfield trucks moving again!! I'm like.. oh yeah – that's not what the economy is based on anymore, folks.. Read Henry Dent.. All those things we once relied on to strengthen our economy have lost our trust as people. Enough of us are becoming Entrepreneurs and creating our own economy. That which was will never be the same.

On a positive note – the same applies to the Network Marketing Industry. It's changed. For the Better.. and to make the best of it, just get to work!

    Thanks Dave&Dawn! You're awesome!

Robert Kiyosaki is one of my favorites, boy I wish I was on the line to hear the awesome information that I know he shared with you guys. I had those same family and friends he mentioned LOL, it is truly amazing how some people cannot or will not even consider the possibility of something better that's out there for them. I can't wait until your next post. Thanks for sharing this.

Fantastic Dave and Dawn! That is powerful :-) I've read several of Roberts books, in fact, close to 10 years ago when I first got involved with this industryl.

Excellent stuff, I will have to re-visit his material again :-)

Some enlightening AND some daunting stuff shared here. Thanks Dave & Dawn ~ I'm sure the call was extraordinary, and I can imagine what a high you're both on! Enjoy it, and we are grateful to get to soak in some of the wisdom he shared. :)

Amazing things happen when you surround yourself with the “right” people. By this, I mean, that call was attracted to you by the like vibes of everyone around you like Sara and Bruce as well as Robert (first name basis) compared to your own.
I, too, cannot understand my family most the time. When you said that quote from Robert about “his family” I was like “wow, that is my family” … they are sooo in the employee mindset. They don't even ask questions about my business anymore just because they are so clueless to it all, I assume. Its an entirely different mentality that us entrepreneurs possess and that leads to my intentions for a possible next blog post in which I'm going to quote some of your writing here as well as link back.
Furthermore, I'm sure Dave and yourself have became a lot closer through being able to share the same mentality, visions and passions; being able to work closely together is probably a great plus for you guys. I wish you all the best. Thanks for sharing the great value.
    God's blessings are best,
    Curt

    I enjoyed your engaging post.

Putting a network together to help yourself — sounds like a “Mastermind Group”.

I enjoyed listening to Robert K's books on CD (digital). My car can be a rolling university–instead of government propaganda news.

Dawn, I gift this book to all my new team members! Thanks for sharing! Everyone needs to learn the power of thinking B, not E. It has taken me years to shift gears even when I thought I was thinking B, it was actually S!!

Wow! You actually speak to Robert on the phone?!!! You are so lucky!

Wow – that sounds like some call! I can specifically relate to working with my husband and the things that my friends and family say to me. That really rings true and it is good to know other people who actually “get” the whole network marketing world:) However I do hate to hear that he feels the economy will get worse before it gets better:( I can't wait for your next post to see what else you can tell us.

Thanks a landlord it! I acquired yet some insight. Life is so colorful, we should be able to live in, such as Korea and honor the planet. Human life is like rivers, slowly flowing, flowing rivers, flowing through the snow, flows through the prairie and ultimately into the sea, return to the embrace of nature, start a new reincarnation. Allow us to feel the meaning of life will come only to those you have those memories http://www.chaneloutletstores.com/Chanel-bags.html

Even I have heard of Robert Kiyosaki and what he stands for — and I’m usually out of many business loops! How wonderful that you had a chance to be on the phone with him, Dawn (and Dave)! That must’ve been so inspiring! I am looking forward to future posts from you. Would love to learn more :) Does he have any “fast track” tips?????? : )

Wow! Dawn and Dave this must have been such an exciting call for you. I can tell that you have an upmost respect for him and his work and message! I should get more familiar with his newest book “The Business of the 21st Century”. Thanks for this great post and reason good video.

That is great that you were able to talk with Robert Kiyosaki. I have read a couple books that my dad shared with me (he is a very successful business owner) and I know that while reading, I really wished the schools I attended taught kids how to be entrepreneurs. It really is sad that we are only being taught to continue the rat race.

Robert Kiyosaki is a great person, I think everybody who is interested in self development or entrepreneurship know his name. I read his books, and even play that game… I really appreciate influences of that information on my life. I could only imagine what you was feeling while that phone conversation, thanks for sharing.

I’ve heard so many successful entrepreneurs tell how their family wants them to get a job. Amazing how stuck people are in how things are supposed to be. When spouses can truly work together to create something more than two individuals working separately its great. I guess you’d call that a mini-tribe:) Thanks for sharing your info…but most of all your enthusiasm!
