Rich People Build Networks! We Can Too!

We all know some famous rich people who have become wealthy as a result of the network they built. We know Bill Gates (Microsoft), Sam Walton (Walmart) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon).

Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad had a hero who became very rich by building his own network. This man is better known for the product he perfected, but really became rich because of the network he built across the world. Even today, many of us think Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, but in actuality he only improved and perfected the light bulb. His true stroke of genius was to create a company
that strung electrical lines that allowed the light bulb to penetrate society. His network made him, Thomas Edison, a multimillionaire!

Most of us are not a Thomas Edison, a Bill Gates, a Sam Walton or a Jeff Bezos, but we want to create the same wealth for ourselves. Robert Kiyosaki in his book The Business of the 21st Century, makes the valid point (his Asset #4, The Power of Your Own Network, that you gain from Network Marketing) that Network Marketing offers millions of people the opportunity to build their own network and create the same wealth created by Thomas Edison and the rest of the famous multimillionaires!

Rich Dad said “The richest people in the world build networks. Everyone else looks for work.” (I’m guessing they are looking to work for the owners of the networks.)

This leads to a little history of the progression of the business model that Robert offers:

First we had the classic Industrial-age model that was run like an empire with a centralized government. (Example: GM) Only the owners benefited from the wealth created.

Then in the 1950’s, a new model was introduced that nearly was voted illegal by Congress. That model was the franchise that used a network of multiple businesses all working from the same blueprint. Here the franchiser is the owner of the network and therefore the franchiser is the main benefactor, not the franchisee. (Example: McDonald’s) Dave and I know this well with our franchised business we bought in 2004. (No, it wasn’t a McDonald’s franchise)

The next step in networked businesses first began in 1960, grew more in 1970’s and 80’s and is still growing very strong today. Instead of franchised businesses, this model employed franchised individuals who own their own network. This model is network marketing. Here, all owners of their own network can create their own wealth. Dave and I are so happy to have discovered this business model and to now own our network.

Of course, the key is to build your own network. It doesn’t happen just by joining a network marketing company, you have to work to build it. Luckily, we have Metcalfe’s law to help us in that endeavor. I’ll tell you more about this in my next post as I continue to give you all the value that Robert provides in his chapter called “Asset #4 – The Power of Your Own Network” in The Business of the 21st Century.

Do Your Leadership Skills SUCK!

If your leadership skills suck it’s because you SUCK! Those are some harsh words aren’t they. Too Bad. The question you have to ask yourself is whether it is true or not? The only reason I am saying this is to make you feel a little uncomfortable. If I have accomplished that, then I did what I set out to do.

You see, the only time we change in life is when we are uncomfortable PERIOD

As you are reading this, you are probably sitting in your chair and when you get a little uncomfortable you’ll probably move around until you find that perfect relaxed position. If you are not uncomfortable, then you probably won’t do a thing to make things better. Right? That’s no different than being a follower vs. a leader.

So, be truthful with me and more importantly, with yourself. Are you the Leader you want to be in life? Are you maybe just a little too comfortable where you are and you are not willing to go to that next level because it will be UNCOMFORTABLE?

I have personally faced my own struggles, self doubts in life and shortcomings to the point where I was doubting my progress every single moment of the day. We moved away from very lucrative careers striving for a better life down here in Florida. We opened businesses locations which were making over $150,000.00 per year to lose them to a competitor. We tried and tried with little success in some of these areas. We started Network Marketing with the dreams of becoming rich over night. Man, we were naive! We started using social media thinking that it will be the answer to our prays rather than our warm market. Once again, we were naive! Not until we realized that it wasn’t the businesses and it was “us” did we start becoming successful. Then when it really became uncomfortable, that is when we made a commitment to ourselves to do whatever it takes to overcome and achieve MAJOR SUCCESS in life.

We learned that with anything in life, you have to be willing to pay the price and grow! And believe me that there is a price for everything in life. With success there is a price and what is even a worse price is failure. Personal awareness and self development was the right path for us. If you don’t acquire the skills to become better, you never will.

Becoming a Leader in your business and personal life will set you free to become whatever you want to achieve. When you really want to become a great leader and you want to take your business and personal life along a faster path… your Education & your Expectations is the key which unlocks your success.

When you realize and answer ‘YES’ to wanting to become a better leader… then you have the heart of a CHAMPION who will ‘do whatever it takes’ to create your dreams.

You will need to trust me to believe there is another view . . . as I have been there and will tell you exactly how it is even if it’s not what you want to really hear. Making you feel uncomfortable is the best way I know how to make you want more in life. Without change and stepping out of your “COMFORT ZONE”, you’ll always get what you got and don’t you deserve more?

You bet you do!

Who is in Your Circle of Friends?

Who is in your Circle of Friends? You may have never asked yourself this question before, but it is a vital question to ask. This question, as you may have already guessed, matters most if you want to become rich.

(I still love Pooh Bear and especially Eeyore, don’t you?)

There is some excellent guidance on this subject as Robert Kiyosaki’s Asset #3 that you gain from your involvement in network marketing. He actually has eight assets you gain as he describes them in his book The Business of the 21st Century.

Robert, like many others I’ve heard, says that your income will tend to average the income of your five closest friends. So if you want the average income of your five closest friends to be a sizable amount, you must pick five (or better yet, many) friends who are all rich.

Robert made the decision at age 15 that he would proactively create relationships with people who were already rich and who wanted to help him become rich. Now I wish I had come to that realization at age 15, but it’s better late than never, right? You bet, that’s right! And maybe you are much closer to age 15 now than me, and if you are, I hope this message will create that realization for you today!

As Robert explains, network marketing is full of rich leaders who are as committed to your success as you are. They will work actively with you, if you ask, and they will likely become your new best friends.

For many people in network marketing, the friendships created with people who have the same core values as you is more important to you than the money you earn. After the weekend Dave and I spent in Orlando with our network marketing team, I am beginning to feel the same way. The friends we met previously and all the new friends we met were so inviting and ready to help us on our journey towards self development and financial success.

We have many more than five new friends now who are millionaires so we definitely agree with Robert that network marketing provides a powerful Circle of Friends who are willing to take us with them to reach our goals and dreams! Committed to Your Success!

Find Your Profitable Path to Personal Development

Do you realize the importance of your personal development? Do you know that your level of success is determined by your level of self-development? Do you work to develop yourself everyday? I bet your network marketing business pushes you to develop yourself, right? Well all these questions lead to the 2nd Asset that Robert Kiyosaki knows you gain by involvement in a network marketing business from his book The Business Of The 21st Century. That Asset #2 is a profitable path to personal development!

If you are an open-minded person that decides that network marketing is an answer for you, you must realize that it’s not just about changing what you do, but it’s about changing who you are! Most of us are middle-class people who now aspire to be financially free. There is a big gap between middle-class and financially free. To accomplish this monumental change, you must change your core values, your base make-up. Again, your level of success is controlled by your level of personal development so it is critical that the changes are deep, sustained and continually developing. Robert quoted his Rich Dad when he said “Money and success make you arrogant and stupid.” And that happens when self development does not accompany the money and success.

As Robert emphasizes in this book, most network marketing companies focus strongly on the personal development of their associates. Can you say that about your JOB (Just Over Broke)? I highly doubt it since for most employers your level of self-development means either they have to pay you a higher wage or you’ll leave them for someone who will pay you more. In network marketing, everyone benefits from the ever-increasing level of your self development!

Robert talks about the fact that there is a winner and a loser in each of us and we must fight to maintain the mindset of a winner every day. Robert states that “the reason you want to join a network marketing company is that they will support the rich person inside of you to stand up and be counted.” The network marketing company does this by focusing on self development in the training of its associates. They want you to change your core values; to go beyond your past history; to no longer do what you used to do; so you can become a new person who is financially free. This can only be accomplished through self development!

So what can you take from this post and the teachings of Robert Kiyosaki? Hopefully you take the importance of developing yourself. (Only You can do that for yourself, no one else can!) The next point is that joining a network marketing business is your profitable pathway to personal development. So when selecting your network marketing company, be sure they give great priority to self development in their trainings. There are so many great companies out there that really get this requirement, but there are also some who do not. As you may have heard me shout out about before, Robert specifically endorses the network marketing company that Dave and I are involved with. I can easily see why since our company makes self development one of its core commitments, and we’re loving the push to be winners!

Network Marketing is Not about Making Income

Let’s start out with a profound statement made by Robert “Network marketing is not about making more income; it’s about building an asset.” Now this is not how most people think at first. As we begin, we are only focused on bringing in more income. But that is short-sighted. Rather we need to think like Big Business owners and think about the income-producing asset we can create by building our network. As we recruit people to build their own Big Business, we create an network of big businesses that generate passive income for us. It’s passive income since our team has made the sale that created the income that we have received. We did not have to make all those sales ourselves, therefore, the income is passive.

The #1 Wealth Building Asset – Real-World Business Education

Now to begin to look at the 8 assets that you gain from network marketing, I’ll cover #1 in this post and the rest in future posts. Robert’s #1 Wealth Building Asset earned through your network marketing business is a real-world business education. This education is not learned in schools, colleges or trade schools. This business education is not learned by employees because they have no need to use these real-world business skills! These skills are what allow big business owners to create a strong and successful business.

Your Real-World Business Skills

Here’s a list of the important skills required for a big business that are learned by a network marketer:

Ability to get organized and set your own agenda
Having a vision
Setting goals
Organizing a plan of action

I loved Robert’s story in his book about how his lack of fear of rejection allowed him to pursue a date with his wife after she rejected him over three times. So it is easy to see how these life skills help you in your personal life as well as your business life.

And here’s Robert’s last point on how networking marketing can provide you with this real-world business education. This point is a common expression in network marketing – “It’s a business where you earn while you learn.” You learn by doing it and you can start doing it from the very beginning since the training begins on day one.

Are You A Social Media Prostitute?

Now some of you are looking at this post title and saying to yourself “What the heck is Dave calling me?” I’m not saying that you are using social media to sell your body to others for money but, a lot of people are using social media to push their businesses to make a quick buck. To me, this is very similar to a “Street Walker” asking every John that passes her what can I do to get your money? When it comes to social media, are you going to be a force for good? Or are you going to turn to the dark side – ruining your chances and infuriating those who cross your path?

Are You A Social Media Prostitute?

Social media when used properly is about building relationships and not about instant money. I’m sure all of you see it time and time again, but maybe you don’t realize that you may be doing similar things. Selling your reputation for a quick sale in social media will be your demise in the future. Just like a prostitute, many people on the internet are looking for the quick buck! For those who use this approach, the money will come from time to time, but in the end, do you really think these people can hold their heads high? Building integrity should be first and foremost and then the monetary rewards will come in the end.

Unfortunately too many people using social media don’t understand these basic concepts. Everyone is looking for that Winning Lotto Ticket and will do almost anything to hit those winning numbers. Social Media is not a sprint. It’s a marathon! Building relationships for the future should be our focus and not about some small instant gratification today.

Now what do I mean when I say “Are You A Social Media Prostitute?” Let’s take a look at it from a funny comedian’s perspective to keep it lite and humorous. As Jeff Foxworthy might say:

Do you add friends on Facebook and then immediately pitch them on your business? Then you might be a Social Media Prostitute!

Do you upload videos on the internet mainly about your opportunity? Then you might be a Social Media Prostitute!

While building your relationships on the internet, you’re thinking how can I sell this person! Then you might be a Social Media Prostitute!

If you have more than two posts on your blog about your business and give links to your biz site. Then you might be a Social Media Prostitute!

When you post a Tweet that redirects them for a way to make you money, then you might be a Social Media Prostitute!

Dawn and I see this all the time and most of us don’t like it when it’s done to us PERIOD. We know how a lot of people feel out there. Times are tough and we see all this potential to make money because we have all these friends We are probably in the top 10% for the most friends and followers on the internet, but Dawn and I don’t use this social media spamming approach to make money. Don’t get me wrong. I would love to make a lot of money right now, but social media spamming isn’t going to make this happen. Your reputation and the way you treat others in life is what should come first and foremost! I struggle with this every day myself and want that winning lotto ticket, but I am not going to become a Social Media Prostitute in order to achieve it!

Do me a favor and leave me your thoughts on this post. Am I on target or should we cave in and become a Social Media Prostitute like over 90% of the rest of the people on the net?

Robert Kiyosaki has the Answer for You!

Are you one of the many who has found that their safe secure job is no longer? Or are you lucky and only your hours have been cut? Are you starting to realize that a job, your current one or any other, will not take you where you want to financially? Do you have aspirations to do so much more with your life? To have so much more? To become so much more? To use your money to make money? Well Robert Kiyosaki and I have an answer for you. I pulled Robert’s answer from his latest book “The Business of the 21st Century“.

First, you are so right in the realization that your job, with its insecurity, its income being taxed at the highest rates and its lack of tax deductions, will not create the financial freedom that you are looking for. We all can now certainly see the insecurity in the job market. We can all watch and experience the increase in the unemployment rate. As an employee, your destiny is determined by people who you have no control over, and your personal situation and needs are the farthest from the minds of those that make the decision.

In regards to the tax rates that apply to the earned income you receive from your employment, the tax rate is not limited in any way for this type of income like it is for capital gains or passive income types. Therefore, if your earned income is significant in amount, it will be taxed in the highest tax bracket which is currently set to be 35% in 2010 and 39.6% in 2011. Does Uncle Sam deserve that much of your hard earned money?

As an employee, the only tax deductions you know are your mortgage interest, your property taxes, your charitable contributions and maybe some medical deductions. That’s pretty much it for an employee. There are so many more deductions that will reduce your taxable income and therefore your tax bill, but they are not available to you if you only work for someone else.

Most of us are now sick and tired of only making someone else financially secure, right? As Robert says in his book, “72% of all adult Americans would rather work for themselves than for a job, and 67% think about quitting their jobs regularly or constantly.” If you are in either or both of these groups, congratulate yourself! You are on the right track and you need to start making headway on that track.

In Robert’s book, he tells of an excellent answer that will really take you where you want to go. This answer falls within the B for Big Business quadrant in Robert’s Cashflow Quadrant diagram. It is in this quadrant, and the I for Investment quadrant, that you want to earn your income from. The other two quadrants, E for Employee and S for Self-employed, will not generate any change for you and will not create the financial freedom you want.

Robert’s business of choice for the 21st century is…drum roll, please…Network Marketing! Yes, you heard me right (unless the drum roll drowned me out), it is Network Marketing. And the key word here as Robert explains, is the “Network“. We can’t create a big business on our own. We need the help of others and as they help us, we help them to create their own network and repeat the process. One of the biggest reasons Robert loves and recommends network marketing is because it is the business model that helps people help each other. It also has become one of the best things Dave and I like about it too.

So in closing, Dave and I hope you’re ready to join us on the right track that leads to all our dreams and financial success. We have such a tremendous guide who is telling us which business is the best business for the 21st century, and we don’t know anyone else whose opinion we would value more in this area. If Robert Kiyosaki recommends network marketing, there is no doubt that that’s the right choice for us, and we hope you’ll give it some valid consideration as well for the benefit to you and your family!

Are You Selling Bologna Juice?

First off, I want to say that this post may tick a lot of you people off PERIOD. I know it will because most of you are so emotionally involved with your product or service and what I am about to say, is going to make you upset. That’s fine. We all need a reality check once in awhile to make sure that we are headed down the right path. While this post is not intended to push you in to our business opportunity, it is intended for you to evaluate your current business and make sure you understand what it is you may be marketing.

Dawn and I got started in Network Marketing after reading some books by Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki and others. Unfortunately when we first started in this industry we were IGNORANCE on fire. We got caught up in all the HYPE the company was pushing and really didn’t look at it from a TRUE business professional standpoint. They dangled the Black Mercedes, the Jets, the Big Piles of Money, Vacations and of course Residual Income for the sales pitch. Guess what, we too fell for it, hook, line and I think I choked on the sinker!

I mean come on, if all these dumb, stupid people can make all this money, certainly two professionals like Dawn and I can do it too. What we realized in the end, we were actually the stupid people ourselves! We did everything according to the system just like they said to do. We bought over $4,000 of product because that is what it takes to really make this business work. We talked to everyone while following the system to a tee. We thought we were doing great and right on course since we put in over 30+ people in our business. We were sure we would be successful since a lot of the top people that were making over a million dollars a year only sponsored about that same amount. We were on the path to greatness!

The work was hard convincing people that we had the best product on the market. Plus, if they didn’t want to DIE, they had better start taking it themselves. Then in the next month or so another company came along with SUPER Juice PlUS! Weeks go by and another, then another, then capsules and by the way, you can buy about the same thing at Walmart for less than a ¼ of the price. So then you start telling people but, “You can’t make money off of buying it a Walmart and you do want to have residual income in your life, don’t you? Trust me guys, most of these companies don’t last and most of the BIG MONEY is made from the leaders in the industry that already had past downlines in other businesses.

Now I’m not saying that “some people” don’t get lucky and really do hit it big. Anyone can hit the Lotto if all your numbers hit just perfectly. But the success factor is stacked against you! Most people are not mentally at that point in their lives and don’t offer enough value.

So many network marketers out there are telling you how to become successful when they haven’t achieved success themselves. There is way to many Bologna Juices out on the market and you have to be careful not to get caught up in all the hype. What do I mean by that? Most of them are a bunch of crap because the only reason that most people buy in, is because of the Business Opportunity and it’s really not about the product. I’m not saying that most of these companies don’t have a great product, they do! I’m just saying that most people wouldn’t even that a second look at products or services unless they can make money. And that in my opinion Ladies and Gentlemen is a bunch of crappy Bologna Juice!

Be truth with yourself like Dawn and I did. Really, I mean really evaluate your opportunity and future opportunities while asking yourself, “is this product or service at fair market value?” or “Am I in this business because of the money and my future for residual income?” But what does residual income really mean, if the company goes out of business. hmmmm

The kid in this Bologna Commercial is Cute but, being emotionally attached to a bad business is a bunch of BOLOGNA!

I was on the phone with Robert Kiyosaki!

Yes, it’s true, I was on the phone with our financial idol, Robert Kiyosaki! (our dog is named Kiyo, if that gives you any idea how significant Robert’s teachings have been to us!) OK, I suppose you want to know how it happened. Here it is. Myself and 3,000 other network marketers for our primary business were on the phone as Robert and his wife Kim were the guest speakers on one of our team conference call Sunday night. Did I care that I had to share his wisdom and the sound of his live voice with 3,000 other people? No way! I was so happy that so many of us could have such a fantastic experience, receiving personal guidance from the financial master.

And guess what else was even better! Robert (yes, I feel I can call him by his first name now since he spoke to me on the phone!) was specifically endorsing our primary business! We feel so honored and privileged to have chosen one of the very few, if any, network marketing businesses that is endorsed by the man who gave us the courage and sound financial principles to change our lives through network marketing. We couldn’t be happier or feel more confident in our decision!

Ok, now let’s get into the specifics of what Robert and Kim Kiyosaki said during this awesome phone call.

Much of what he said came from his latest book The Business of the 21st Century, written specifically for the network marketing industry. (I have a copy on its way!)

“Politicians work for big corporations and the rich, not for the people” Robert said this was true since the big corporations and the rich can make huge political contributions that we, the people just can’t. Through Robert, I learned that the Supreme Court has overturned a bill that was pushed forward by John McCain that limited the amount of political contributions that can be accepted by politicians. The Supreme Court determined that corporations and individuals can not be limited in the dollar amount that they choose to contribute to politicians. As we all know, politicians listen to money more than anything else. That leaves us out in the cold and fully responsible for our own financial future.

The things we are fighting, per Robert, are:
• The economy will get worse
• The current 10% unemployment rate is likely to increase
• Taxes to go higher
• Inflation to increase

In regards to inflation, Robert said “$250,000 a year won’t get you ahead in 10 years!” Isn’t that incredibly sad!

Robert, as usual, offered the solution to these problems. “Work not as an individual, but create your own network. Build your own network so your income is not limited.” In my opinion, you’ll get absolutely no where if you continue to rely only on your own limited efforts. We can all be successful if we work together toward a common goal.

In regards to sharing your opportunity with your family and friends, Robert also talked about the fact that even some of his family members are still stuck in the employee mindset. He said that when he returns to Hawaii to see his family, he has family members who still ask him if he’s found a job yet, and they feel sorry for him when he says “no”. (What planet do they live on?) For those of us who have received the same reactions from our own family and friends, you can feel that you are in excellent company now. Robert says if your family and friends are in the employee quadrant (from his Cashflow Quadrant book), you will have a rough time changing them. Another quote from Robert: “If your friends don’t understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, then you need new friends.” This topic and this quote specifically have empowered me to move beyond the rejections from my family and friends and I hope it helps you in the same way!

The last thing that Robert discussed that I’ll include in this post here was in regards to spouses working together to mind their own business. First off, why mind your own business? As Robert and his Rich Dad explained in Rich Dad Poor Dad, in addition to your profession/job, you must create and mind your own business to invest in assets to become financially independent. As Robert indicated in the call, a network marketing business is a great way to make money that you’ll then invest in assets within your business. Now back to spouses working together. As Robert mentioned how important it is to have the full support of your spouse and gave huge credit to his wife Kim, as she came on the phone. Her big point was to highlight how she and Robert grew personally together in such a phenomenal way as they have worked closely together now for so many years. She couldn’t say enough about the increased success you can generate when you work together! I look forward to reading this chapter of The Business of the 21st Century that Kim wrote.

OK, there was more valuable information that Robert relayed in this phone call, but I’ll save some for the next post. For those of you who are huge Robert Kiyosaki fans, like Dave and I, I’m sorry you couldn’t be on the call. My offerings here in this post can’t compare to hearing him in person, but I hope, by reading this post, you’ve received some of the benefit I received.
