Do Your Leadership Skills SUCK!

If your leadership skills suck it’s because you SUCK! Those are some harsh words aren’t they. Too Bad. The question you have to ask yourself is whether it is true or not? The only reason I am saying this is to make you feel a little uncomfortable. If I have accomplished that, then I did what I set out to do.

You see, the only time we change in life is when we are uncomfortable PERIOD

As you are reading this, you are probably sitting in your chair and when you get a little uncomfortable you’ll probably move around until you find that perfect relaxed position. If you are not uncomfortable, then you probably won’t do a thing to make things better. Right? That’s no different than being a follower vs. a leader.

So, be truthful with me and more importantly, with yourself. Are you the Leader you want to be in life? Are you maybe just a little too comfortable where you are and you are not willing to go to that next level because it will be UNCOMFORTABLE?

I have personally faced my own struggles, self doubts in life and shortcomings to the point where I was doubting my progress every single moment of the day. We moved away from very lucrative careers striving for a better life down here in Florida. We opened businesses locations which were making over $150,000.00 per year to lose them to a competitor. We tried and tried with little success in some of these areas. We started Network Marketing with the dreams of becoming rich over night. Man, we were naive! We started using social media thinking that it will be the answer to our prays rather than our warm market. Once again, we were naive! Not until we realized that it wasn’t the businesses and it was “us” did we start becoming successful. Then when it really became uncomfortable, that is when we made a commitment to ourselves to do whatever it takes to overcome and achieve MAJOR SUCCESS in life.

We learned that with anything in life, you have to be willing to pay the price and grow! And believe me that there is a price for everything in life. With success there is a price and what is even a worse price is failure. Personal awareness and self development was the right path for us. If you don’t acquire the skills to become better, you never will.

Becoming a Leader in your business and personal life will set you free to become whatever you want to achieve. When you really want to become a great leader and you want to take your business and personal life along a faster path… your Education & your Expectations is the key which unlocks your success.

When you realize and answer ‘YES’ to wanting to become a better leader… then you have the heart of a CHAMPION who will ‘do whatever it takes’ to create your dreams.

You will need to trust me to believe there is another view . . . as I have been there and will tell you exactly how it is even if it’s not what you want to really hear. Making you feel uncomfortable is the best way I know how to make you want more in life. Without change and stepping out of your “COMFORT ZONE”, you’ll always get what you got and don’t you deserve more?

You bet you do!

Now get out there and do what it takes to become a great LEADER!

    Hey Dave and Dawn,

You are so right about getting “uncomfortable”. So many people sit in their “Circle of comfort-ability” too afraid to do anything different. Well we all know that if you continue to do the same things over and over expecting a different result, that is the true definition of insanity ;)

    In Success,

Ok, so I feel uncomfortable and unsure and unsettled and inadequate and ineffective .. oh good grief, that's a lot I now have to turn around and just as the school holidays start here in England! Hmmm… think I may need to learn how to delegate first!! ;)

    All the best,

I love what you wrote here. When I'm talking to our new distributors I tell them very upfront that I may not always tell you what you want to hear, but I will always tell you what you deserve to hear.

Well, you know how I feel about leaving your comfort zone – that's the time when you work through the fear, reach goals, and make discoveries you never would have imagined by staying in the “comfortable” rut.

It's interesting to read your story and how the change in your mindset eliminated those struggles in finding and managing a successful business. I've been in leadership roles in various companies and enjoy it: to share a direction, steps, and the interaction with others in working toward a goal. I am two weeks away from making a huge change in my life – a new direction professionally. I know I'll be visiting your blog more often to glean insight into successful entrepreneurship.

I'm grateful to have met you and Dawn and be a part of the Tribe.

A great post Dave. Leadership is a learned skill. You are correct about doing things that are uncomfortable and stepping outside the box. Using video is a great tool to get yourself out there. We both use video a lot and I believe that helps position yourself as a leader too.You can be heard and seen when you share the good information. Thanks for all your great leadership.

Dave, sometimes it just needs to be said – to give us a kick in the pants, wake us up, etc. I have been in business 20 years, and yet I still struggle with being a leader – it takes work and dedication. Now that I have been in Network Marketing for 4 years, I really realize to be successful you have to lead the way – this comfort zone you speak of…it's me on video I have to break down this barrier and step it up or pack it up and go home – thanks for making me realize what I need to do.

    Hey Dave,

Great post my friend. We all need to hear it like it is from a great Leader who tells it like it is. That is you my friend. Thanks for your continued leadership as it has been an inspiration and motivation for myself to step out of my comfort zone and move forward towards my dreams.

    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,

You are on the money as usual my friend! I always find it interesting to see all of the self proclaimed Guru's out there, if you are not a “Duru” you are not benefiting anyone.

I appreciate you leadership and dedication to your TSA Group, you and Dawn are doing a wonderful job. You both are true leaders and you persistence inspires me each week.

Have a fantastic week my friend!

    Hey Dave,

Great Post and Video as usual. It's ok to feel uncomfortable its almost that we have to get comfortable being uncomfortable if that makes any sense.

Thank you for your continued Leadership.

    Beth :)

Great post, D&D! It's so easy to stay comfortable and then wonder why nothing is happening. Believing it will happen is not enough – action is necessary, and the more uncomfortable the more effective.

Be a person who tirelessly improves their character. By altering paradigms and reshaping your thoughts, you will notice your circumstance change accordingly.

You followers will do what you do: both good and bad… if they're not making phone calls, ask yourself if you're making enough… then resolve, “If it's to be, it's up to me”
if they're not posting on their blog, again… “If it's to be, it's up to me”
if they're not out there reaching for their success, “If it's to be, it's up to me”

And through this process, some of them will follow you, but more importantly, you will come into contact with the people you really want on your team.

Thanks for the great post, Dave/Dawn! Deadly content! (and your followers are doing the same!)

PREACH!!!!! I couldn't agree more! I'm a born leader. Anyone who follows me close enough knows “Grind Or Die!” is my motto and I live by it everyday. Things get tough at times but I always remember that there's a blessing in every struggle. I could be down & out, life knocking me on my back but quit just isn't in my vocabulary. So yes, i'm ALWAYS uncomfortable & I AM a Leader!

Hey Dave, great post. I am not sure I agree that you have to be uncomfortable to make changes. A good leader is constantly asking how things can be done better, regardless of the frame of mind. But your point is well taken, no change is no progress and no progress is going backwards.
Thanks for another thoughtful post from a true leader.

    Dave,

Great post! Some people really have to be pushed to make changes. I was in an uncomfortable decision and had to make a change, it was the ONLY solution.

    Thanks for the value!

Many years back, when I was in a very self-limiting state, I heard someone say to me ~ “if you are not constantly pushing on the edges of your comfort zone, it will shrink in around you until you cannot breathe.” And that was exactly how I felt! I have since made it a motto to spend time each day dancing at the edge of my comfort zone. And the resulting feelings are electric!

And yes, all leaders I know understand this principle, and with practice, you can take things on that previously would have been WAY out of your reach, and now feel entirely possible and accessible. Life is always an evolution of learning and expansion. Thanks for your leadership, Dave!

    Dave,

We have heard somewhere that we should do something every day that scares us. To us that means, like you've said, stretching our comfort zone.

By stretching the “zone” in which we feel comfortable doing things, it can only lead to doing more and more and boldly (maybe sometimes warily) taking our lives to new heights.

“Feel the fear and do it anyways”…

    Thanks,
    ~ Pat and Lorna

Good points to bring up…it is the discomfort of new ways that some incredible growth/change can flow. Sometimes the mind goes into overdrive to keep us from feeling that discomfort…it is so genius.
