Are You Selling Bologna Juice?
First off, I want to say that this post may tick a lot of you people off PERIOD. I know it will because most of you are so emotionally involved with your product or service and what I am about to say, is going to make you upset. That’s fine. We all need a reality check once in awhile to make sure that we are headed down the right path. While this post is not intended to push you in to our business opportunity, it is intended for you to evaluate your current business and make sure you understand what it is you may be marketing.
Dawn and I got started in Network Marketing after reading some books by Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki and others. Unfortunately when we first started in this industry we were IGNORANCE on fire. We got caught up in all the HYPE the company was pushing and really didn’t look at it from a TRUE business professional standpoint. They dangled the Black Mercedes, the Jets, the Big Piles of Money, Vacations and of course Residual Income for the sales pitch. Guess what, we too fell for it, hook, line and I think I choked on the sinker!
I mean come on, if all these dumb, stupid people can make all this money, certainly two professionals like Dawn and I can do it too. What we realized in the end, we were actually the stupid people ourselves! We did everything according to the system just like they said to do. We bought over $4,000 of product because that is what it takes to really make this business work. We talked to everyone while following the system to a tee. We thought we were doing great and right on course since we put in over 30+ people in our business. We were sure we would be successful since a lot of the top people that were making over a million dollars a year only sponsored about that same amount. We were on the path to greatness!
The work was hard convincing people that we had the best product on the market. Plus, if they didn’t want to DIE, they had better start taking it themselves. Then in the next month or so another company came along with SUPER Juice PlUS! Weeks go by and another, then another, then capsules and by the way, you can buy about the same thing at Walmart for less than a ¼ of the price. So then you start telling people but, “You can’t make money off of buying it a Walmart and you do want to have residual income in your life, don’t you? Trust me guys, most of these companies don’t last and most of the BIG MONEY is made from the leaders in the industry that already had past downlines in other businesses.
Now I’m not saying that “some people” don’t get lucky and really do hit it big. Anyone can hit the Lotto if all your numbers hit just perfectly. But the success factor is stacked against you! Most people are not mentally at that point in their lives and don’t offer enough value.
So many network marketers out there are telling you how to become successful when they haven’t achieved success themselves. There is way to many Bologna Juices out on the market and you have to be careful not to get caught up in all the hype. What do I mean by that? Most of them are a bunch of crap because the only reason that most people buy in, is because of the Business Opportunity and it’s really not about the product. I’m not saying that most of these companies don’t have a great product, they do! I’m just saying that most people wouldn’t even that a second look at products or services unless they can make money. And that in my opinion Ladies and Gentlemen is a bunch of crappy Bologna Juice!
Be truth with yourself like Dawn and I did. Really, I mean really evaluate your opportunity and future opportunities while asking yourself, “is this product or service at fair market value?” or “Am I in this business because of the money and my future for residual income?” But what does residual income really mean, if the company goes out of business. hmmmm
The kid in this Bologna Commercial is Cute but, being emotionally attached to a bad business is a bunch of BOLOGNA!

Dave,
We think it's crucial that people take a good look at what they can accomplish with the “opportunity” they are involved in and also to seriously evaluate what it is they are promoting.
This message can apply to any business opportunity that someone wants to venture into.
Thanks for the insight,

This is so true! Of course because the main reason for getting into anything, 9 times out of 10, is because of the income potential. Even with regular jobs and going to college forever. I would say college-wise it's only about 7 or 8 times out of 10, the people are in a certain degree because of the money, not because they love it so much!
It would be for the money if we didn't need to exchange it to get all the things we need in life. I wish kindness was the currency, I'm naturally nice so I'd be rich, right?
Thanks for sharing!
Not sure if you are upset here about something that happened to you or not. There are a lot of companies that sell amazing products but if you get caught up with the wrong team you might end up buying just to “Make Money”. That is poor leadership on your team if they teach you that.
I love Network Marketing. It works well IF you have the right leadership as well as the right company. I do and I love it!
You did give some good warnings here.
Thanks Dave!
I recently saw a video that showed a guy going to Walmart and buying a basket full of juice about the same amount his autoship was and he asked two questions that really got me thinking, “Who actually goes to the store and buys this much juice a month? So why would you do it in a business?
At the time I was actually in a juice company and my team was starting to fall off because they could not afford the autoship and not making any money did not help.
I love the product and I still use it but I do understand and I agree with everything that you said in this post. I am no longer in the company but the juice is awesome!
I do think that a lot of people get caught up into things like you described. That's why it's very important to be living your passion that way you are doing what you believe in rather than selling something that could very well be a fad. Thanks for sharing.
Great insights! For me, it all comes down to passion for the product and really believing in it. If you don't believe in it yourself why would anyone want to buy it from you?
There are no free lunches but there are thousands of quick get rich schemes which the mass equate to free lunches. Research is the key as you so rightly pointed out in between Bologna Juice pitches. Great video with interesting editing. Thanks Dave for being a true Triber with our best as your intentions.
Hmmm? Sounds like you had a bad experience selling bologna juice . Why would we want to sell our products at Wal-Mart? There is a value aspect there and I won't even shop at Wal-Mart. Glad I am not selling bologna juice. People should definitely review their company and look through their policies and procedures before they get involved.
Not at all Nicole! We grow and learn from every experience we have in life. How can that ever be bad.
Was I pitching Bologna Juice a little too much Nelson? I can't believe that nobody wants in my new business of this great juice. It's only cost $250 for your monthly autoship and it comes with a FREE bottle opener. 2oz per day and you get all the protein you need. lol Thanks for your comment.
Thanks Kevin. We appreciate your comment! Dave
Excellent point Deborah! It sounds like you are speaking from a point of view form a true business prospective. I wouldn't expect anything less from you
I'm with you on that one Lori. I've seen the same stuff as you have and even pitched it ourselves. When it really comes down to it, if people would just eat right, take their vitamins while getting “some” exercise, we wouldn't need all these fads! Diets don't work, eating right does! Thanks for your insight. Dave
Thanks Beverly! I agree with you about the right team as well but, when most people look at an opportunity like these, it's because it was their neighbor or someone that has no real understanding about the “True” business. They buy in to hype and etc… Savvy people like yourself understand what to look for but, most of the masses don't.
Hey Chris, Thanks for the comment my friend. You are totally right. 9 out of 10 people are in it for the money. That is why most of these companies out there are more top heavy with distributors vs. customers. Now that is a going out of business plan over the long haul.
Thanks Pat & Lorna! You understand this principle and it would be great if so many others did as well. That not being the case, we need to educate them on what to truly look for in a business and not get caught up in winning the Lotto.
What? No comment from you about my Bologna Juice analogy? You asked me for a pickle the last time. lol
Entrepreneurialism 101:
Fulfill an unfulfilled need. The need for juices that make you younger, healthier, more fertile, etc – has been fulfilled thousands of times over.
Set yourself apart… If you're not – you'll end up apart from those who pioneer the coming economy.
Dave–AWESOME video and AWESOME message…I had joined a company three years ago and didn't do much with it (in my case my low paying j-o-b contributed to that, but that's neither here or there, and I will NOT use that as an excuse); now I'm with one of that company's competitors and I think I might have a better chance this time around; be that as it may, however, I'm still glad I watched this, because it's a warning to keep things in perspective, just like you're doing…it is a message we all need to hear every once in a while, no question about that…in the immortal words of Flavor Flav, “Don't Believe The Hype!”…THANK YOU DAVE!!!!!
Dave,
You bring up a subject that is packed full of emotions. The best way is to evaluate and think before you make a decision. It can get crazy trying to keep up with all these new-improved, better than ever products. Straight common sense should prevail.
Thanks for sharing,
Val
Hey Val, I told you that you might not like it. But in the end, if I can just help only one person in my rant, it was worth it! Thanks for the comment! Dave
Glad to be a voice of reason for you here Mark. Thank you very much for your comment and let me know how that next opportunity works out for you. I hope that the competitor has a MUCH MUCH better product and business plan! Thanks again my friend! Dave
What can I say other than true wisdom my friend! Are you sure I can't talk you in to the HOTTEST NEW juice to hit the market this century? hmmmm? lol Thanks Paul!
Dave, your video was a bit long – but I couldn't stop watching it and paying attention…well done!
no MINE's the hottest and newest juice there ever was and ever will be.
oh yes.. and that's cheap.. coz $250 bucks a month is less than what you pay for a car! And a car won't give you the return that Bologna juice gives ya.
How's that for handling that objection?

Thanks Tim! I had over 40 minutes that I used to shorten it down to what it is. I even had to cut out some great content too! Next time I'll try to make it shorter but no promises.
Sage advice. Been there … done that, and learned a lot along the way. It sounds like many of us have learned the hard way! I think the key is to be in a business that you are passionate about, and one that provides service to others. That's the key to fitting into the top percent!
Thanks Dave for your great words of wisdom! To many companies out there that are fly by night and will not be around after three years. People that are joining network marketing companies need to understand how to really evaluate a business opportunity beyond the hype and excitement. It is a shame that 97% of them don't have the skills or do not even understand or believe that they need it.
Thanks again for the tips. Much appreciated.
Make it a great day!
God Bless,

Dave, isn't it funny that it is common practice to do extensive research before going into an offline business, but when it is online we jump in without thinking twice. I have done many acquisitions and divestitures in my career and they all took enormous amounts of time and resources to make them a success. I am convinced that for the majority of us that is the same online. Always do your research before making a decision.

Hi Dave/Dawn, looks like this post is a big hit and it's very true! People just jump on the bandwagon and push anything if it means they can make a fast buck… it's a shame that the Internet and NM has got like this but I guess it's up to us to bring it back into line
I say, focus on what you are passionate about. Something that people want and need and will stand the test of time… then you can't go far wrong
Thanks Dave, like all the rest here, great post. I actually took your thoughts and expanded on them with a video of my own. I also took the opportunity to mention you in the video, this post and your site. Thanks again
Thanks Gavin for the comment! Your leadership has been a true blessing to TSA and especially for Dawn and I! Thanks
This is so true Karin. Unfortunately a large percentage of people in this world rather be lead around by others vs. thinking for themselves. This is where the Bologna Juice manufacturers take advantage! It's sad but, it's life PERIOD
Ha ha. that Bologna Juice sounds pretty gross!
Great post and video.

I actually find it confusing with all the companies and hype of each one pushing theirs as the next best one. Over the past year I have had the opportunity of speaking to some of the leaders in this industry who are master trainers or owners or administrators in this industry and have been for years. IT gives you a totally different perspective. Certainly some of the motives are the quick buck for a few years and then onto the next one…even from the owners perspective.
Well…where do I get some of that juice you talk about so much…what was it? some sort of meat juice? Sounds like someone on a really legalistic fast would want to buy it by the barrel.
Anyhow…your video brings up a lot of thoughts for me. I have been thinking a great deal about MLM and Network Marketing these past few days and have come to some conclusions. I don't enjoy the process…but I think it is a great idea. I have been in a number of companies over the years…but I have always researched them first. I am much better at researching today than I used to be though…so I haven't always made great choices.
The current companies I am affiliated with now (one for over 15 years) are because of specific reasons. Since I have decided I don't really like the process of MLM and really never have…I am going to stick with the same process I have used in years past. I have made a fair amount of money over the years and taken some really amazing trips because I used this simple philosophy: offer something out of love for the other person that will truly help improve their lives.
That is what has worked for me in the past and that is what I am going to continue to do. The past 3-4 months I have found myself wondering if I should be a better marketer of this or that opportunity…but it is simply not me. I love seeing people get true results and have their lives changed. I love to see people beat cancers and heart disease and gain energy and get their relationships restored and get fit and start pursuing dreams and so forth. I happen to be affiliated with companies that enable people to do those things. I am fairly certain they are not so well known in these circles as they are primarily connected with health care and not opportunities.
Anyhow…I will continue to market myself (I very much enjoy sharing my heart, thoughts and ideas with others) and I will share the products from these MLM companies as people have need to find true healing in their lives.
I may have rambled a bit and I hope it makes sense. I do appreciate your video as I believe it is important. I think everyone needs to evaluate who, why, what, where and how on a fairly regular basis just to figure out if everything is “working” the way we are hoping and/or planning.
My bolonga has a first name…(and it's C-R-A-P). I absolutely LOVE this article. Great job guys…

Oh Dave I wish I had have read this post before I got into this industry. There is so much hype and CRAP out there and really does get people in. Money is such an emotional topic for a lot of people and it can make you do crazy things. Yes, Justin and I got suckered in but we have learnt (and lost some money) and are now much wiser. It's hard to do but you mustn't become emotional over money, much like what Robert Kiyosaki teaches.
We have been part of two network marketing companies which have both gone under or changed the way they market their product without mlm. I don't know if we've been scarred but we now only do affiliate marketing, there's no pressure to perform and the product is what it is, it's not marketing a system to make money.
Great post, it is a touchy subject but needs to be said.
Cheers, Lynn
I was a Mary Kay consultant for about a year. While I love their products and still use them, I terminated my consultant status because I wasn't turning over any profit. I had a hard time pitching it to the younger women (18 and older) because I felt that trying to put them in debt so I could make a commission from them wasn't truly fair. I went in debt a couple thousand dollars for the products myself and lost quite a bit of money. What I didn't realize upon signing up was that I needed to be prepared to work for MK every single day and I wasn't interested in making it my life, I just wanted to make some money for a brief amount of time. (Didn't work out that way…) I think it was the hype about a free car and the huge commissions that pulled me in. I didn't like the pushiness of the sales pitches and was never comfortable trying to convince someone to buy a product they didn't have money for or didn't truly want. Like I said, I think it's a great product and still use it because I know the quality is fantastic, but I just feel as if a LOT of women get pulled in thinking they'll make fast cast and lose a lot money in the end.
Hmmmm, sounds like you had a bad experience with one of the MANY hyped up super juice companies! Sorry to hear that. While I think the “juice wars” as I like to call them are long past, some of the companies had products that dramatically changed lives. My take is, look to the science, and not just the science of the ingredients in the products, but of the products themselves. Not many companies do that. Also, most of the juice companies revolved around that one product. One hit wonders rarely last. Hype is hype. Do your due diligence and make sure ALL the pieces of the puzzle fit together, and if you can find that, you're good to go. Otherwise, you'll be jumping ship over and over as each one starts to sink. Definitely food for thought though, and you make some decent points. Lots of mis-information and confusion out there, the mlm maze is certainly not the easiest to navigate.
Right on, Dave! Way too much hype out there and not enough value in way too many cases. Thanks for being willing to tick off some folks. There are plenty of great network marketing companies to choose from without being pulled into something of little long-lasting value.

Thanks Bill! I checked it out and left you a comment. Good stuff my friend. Keep up the good work.
I totally agree Karin but, it is what it is and people just get caught up in the hype of looking for that quick all mighty dollar!
Seen it and did it ourselves Lori. I wouldn't have changed that experience for nothing though. It made us more aware and we became much better going through the process. True lessons in life is always the best teacher if you learn from them!
Thanks Steve! You are totally correct my friend. Ticking people off can be great if they actually listen and learn!
It wasn't a bad experience Beth. It was great! I would be who I am today without that experience. It made me better, not bitter!
Seen it and did it ourselves Lynn. I wouldn't have changed that experience for nothing though. It made us more aware and we became much better going through the process. True lessons in life is always the best teacher if you learn from them!
Thanks Clint! Glad you Loved it!
