Motivational
Motivation – What does it mean to you? What or who motivates you? You will learn what and who motivates us through the teachings of our motivation mentors. We’ve discovered these mentors and their great and profound philosophies and ideas over the last eighteen months as we’ve looked to make the appropriate changes in our lives. We have also learned that it takes more than reading or hearing motivation ideas to make changes happen. It takes the implementation of the ideas and actions suggested by our motivational mentors.
The first motivational mentor we’ll introduce to you here is Larry Winget. One of his books entitled Shut Up, Stop Whining & Get a Life really caught Dave’s attention at the bookstore, and the book itself more than lived up to its name. Larry is a different type of motivation speaker. In fact, he is known as The Pitbull of Personal Development. He is honest and straight-forward, and doesn’t care if the truth hurts your feelings if it gets you to take action to improve your life.
One of the truths that Larry Winget elaborates on is that we are totally responsible for what happens or doesn’t happen in our lives. There is no one else we can blame and there is no circumstance that created our life situation. We created it through our actions and our failure to take action. The exciting thing about this truth is that we have the power to make any changes we want to create the life we want. We just need to take full responsibility for our lives. Larry’s truths are pushing us in the right direction, and he can do the same for you.
Next comes Jim Rohn. He is one of the best speakers around as we’ve learned, and we wish we had been introduced to him and his philosophies years ago. Jim Rohn’s teachings make so much sense and are so important for people, like us, who are working to create our own home-based business and financial independence. One of Jim’s philosophies centers around the fact that “the same wind blows on us all, and it’s not the blowing of the wind, but the set of the sail that determines your life experience”. We all have to deal with the same problems, and those are not the real issue. The real issue is how you respond to those problems.
We love Jim’s quote that “We don’t need less problems, we just need more skills.” We are on a continual quest to learn more skills. Jim has many more life changing philosophies, such as “Profits are better than Wages”, that we are studying and turning into our life philosophies. We invite you to learn from Jim Rohn as well.
Zig Ziglar – There are so many fantastic compliments and thank you’s we can offer to Zig. His motivational teachings and speaking events have spanned many years, and he still fully follows what he teaches and is still sharing with the world. I recently read his famous book See You At The Top and I’ve heard him speak in person. He also has an online newsletter that we subscribe to and learn new nuggets from him every week. Zig Ziglar is immensely inspirational every time! He so truly believes in and lives by his teachings, and he is proof that it works so very well.
Our favorite Zig quote is “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” Following that is such a win-win situation, and we are striving to do just that. We sincerely want to help as many people as possible to see all the opportunities that are available and how to be successful by helping more people become successful too. We strongly recommend the motivational and personal development teachings of Zig Ziglar.
John Maxwell is a leadership expert and teaches the fundamental laws of leadership. In his book, co-authored with Jim Dornan, Becoming A Person Of Influence, John’s first requirement to being a person of influence is integrity. Genuine integrity is so respected and appreciated by everyone you deal with in your personal life as well as your business life. In our opinion, embedding personal integrity into your character will benefit you more than any other characteristic.
John Maxwell has two other books about leadership that are definitely on our recommended reading list. These books are The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and Developing the Leader in You. We are very enthusiastic about our self-development, and becoming true leaders is one of our top priorities. We’ve learned that being a leader is so essential to a successful entrepreneur you can help many others create the same for themselves. John Maxwell will be key to us in developing this skill.
